Castagneto Carducci
Caccia al Piano 1868
Despite its historical significance, the winery is pretty recent with vineyards that are less than 25 years old. This didn’t stop its wines to be included among the best Bolgheri bottles, thanks to enologist Franco Ziliani’s know-how and hard work. The winery is located right in the middle of the estate: here the grapes are processed on the ground floor where the fermentation period begins, the wine is then aged underground in barriques and oval barrels. The lookout tower dominating the winery, although recently built, is inspired by those that once stood on the Etruscan Coast and offers a breathtaking view of the vineyards and the whole area.
Among their most famous wines: Caccia al Piano, Bolgheri DOC superiore, Ruit Hora, Bolgheri DOC Red, and Grottaia Vermentino IGT Toscana.

Although he was a latecomer, thanks to his vision and determination, the winery was able to conquer its own space, introducing varieties that were initially not very common, such as Syrah, Teroldego, Viognier. This was the first winery in the area to make wine exclusively from Vermentino and Sangiovese, which are now two strong varietals here.
